1970 Rapid Transit System Caravan Hemi Road Runner

This car started out as an orange Hemi Road Runner hardtop yet was slated to be customized to become part of the new Rapid Transit System Caravan traveling road show. The designers came up with a wild customization plan. The car was taken to Roman's Chariot Shop in Ohio for the body modifications and striking custom paint design. Body modifications included large rear fender flares, enlargement of the quarter panel scoops, custom grille with rectangular Cibie headlights, shaved door handles, large rear spoiler, side marker lamps and full width taillamp treatment. Filling those extra wide rear wheel openings were a set of custom Ansen Sprint slotted mags while the fronts were a standard off the shelf size all fitted with Goodyear racing tires. Of course with Hemi power, no engine modifications were necessary. The airgrabber hood scoop is fixed in the open position.

The paint design was a little less wild than the other RTS Caravan cars but no less stunning. Painted in rich gold with white and black accents. The lower portions of the front and rear bumpers were painted black, matching up with the lower body paint, giving the bumpers a lighter look. Black paint reached from the base of the windshield and backglass toward each end of the car. This in combination with the black striping down the sides gives the car a long and low appearance and really shows off the lines of the car. The large Road Runner decals on the door were actually available for any Road Runner, only on this car the dust trails were extended by hand painting them to the quarter scoops.
