1969 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S Mod Top

This car is one of the latest additions to Steven's collection. The car is almost 100% original with less than 30,000 miles on the odometer. The car began its life as a dealer demo car for Goddard Motors, Inc. in Jennings, Missouri. As such it has a lot of options which pushed the sticker price to $4277.95. That's almost $1500 in options. These options include the Formula S package with 340 cubic engine, automatic transmission, power brakes, console, air conditioning, variable speed wipers, locking gas cap, undercoating and hood insulation, custom sill mouldings with black paint accents, front and rear bumper guards, AM/FM radio, power steering, deluxe wheel cover, red streak E70x14 tires. The Mod Top options include the floral vinyl top, seat upholstery and door panels.

The Mod Top cars from Plymouth fit right in with Chryslers wild advertising of the day. Along with the yellow floral pattern seen on Barracudas in 1969, there was a blue-green pattern available on the Satellite (later available on '70 Barracudas). Dodge also had something similar with a green floral pattern vinyl top for Dart, Coronet and Super Bee but these are not called Mod Tops and these cars did not come with matching interiors. Other interesting top patterns produced by Chrysler included gator grains, paisleys, Aztec and more.
